The boys are massive football fans and we support Manchester United so it was only right to take them to the stadium right? We planned August because that is when the new season started. We wanted to take them to a match but it was hard for my partner to get the days off work so we just went at the beginning of August.
We travelled to Manchester by coach. Yes coach, it was long just under 5 hours but again I didn’t feel comfortable driving there with a newborn and there was no way I was paying train prices for a family of 5. I paid £51 return for all of us which I think is really good, it could have been cheaper if I booked in advance but I had to wait till my partner got the dates off work.
Again I brought travel games and snacks for the journey and the boys did really well, it was only the last 30 minutes they got a bit ratty. Did you know that if you book an infant seat on National express you can bring the car seat on board so you don’t have to hold your infant in your hand the whole journey. This was great because we were both able to get a good rest on the the coach.
We took coach from London Victoria to Manchester coach station Chorlton Street which is in the city centre. We stayed in a apartment which was 5 stops from the city centre. It is very easy to navigate through Manchester especially if you have Google maps. While we were in Manchester we travelled around by bus, at first we were getting single rides each journey but realised that we could get a day rider saver ticket which is £5.40 per adult and we saved so much money.
We stayed in Approved Hotel Apartments Stanley Street, it was a nice modern apartment and had everything we needed for our stay. We paid £255 for 3 nights. It was easy to access the apartment and get keys etc. It was a bit small for us as we only got a 1 bedroom but for the time we were there and the fact that we only slept there it was perfect.
Treetop Adventures Golf
We didn’t plan anything apart from the stadium tour. I had seen a few things on Groupon that I was going to book and I wanted to go to Lego Discovery. Once we took our luggage to the apartment we went back to the centre to explore and get something to eat. I saw a Treetop adventure sign and the boys love golf so we went to check it out. They had a 2 course for the price of 1 early bird offer so I paid £9 for both of them to play 2 courses. The golf had a tropical trail and an ancient explorer trail. It was interactive and there was also a bonus shot. I loved the interior it was very cool, I felt jungle vibes and the boys enjoyed it. You can also get something to eat there. It was nice for them to do something especially after a long journey and it was very affordable. There is 18 holes on each course.
Manchester United Stadium Tour
We brought the new home kit for the whole family- even Kaion (nobody gets left behind). I brought a stadium tour for a family of four(infants are free) on Buyagift.com. I got 20% off so paid £65 it was originally £80. The price includes a tour of the stadium with a guide, entry to the museum, walking through the players tunnel with the feel of the roar of the crowd and entry to the dressing room with players shirts. You also get free printed certificates with names on at the end of the tour which makes a great keepsake. I have never been to a stadium before but it was breathtaking, stepping on the pitch was so surreal. It was an amazing experience even if your not a football fan. The boys thoroughly enjoyed it especially Ahaziah who was at the front basically holding the guides hand lol. You get an audio guide where they would show videos, the boys really loved this and listen attentively to all the information given. You also get free entry to return anytime for a year. Ahaziah and Micaiah’s favourite part of the tour was going into the dressing room and taking pictures under their favourite players shirt.
The largest play frame in the UK and it surely was. I could comfortably climb around and go down the slides. The boys had a blast playing football. There is an arcade, zip line, go kart and virtual reality. You get 2.5 hours of play here and it will wear the children out. I found a deal for this on Groupon for a family of 4 it was originally £33.80 but on Groupon it was £19.95 but I always have cheeky 15 or 20% off extra so ended up paying £16 Bargin! Both of the boys loved everything inside and would like to go back.
Science and industry museum
Originally we planned to go to Lego discovery but a family in Play factory recommended this to us. It is free to enter and there is a number of free as well as paid family activities. We only spent just over 1 hour here because we had to get to another planned activity but the boys still got to enjoy what they saw. We only saw a fraction of the museum but what we saw was really good plus they even got to do an activity which was to make a sun catcher bracelet. There is plenty of buildings surrounding the museum which is part of the museum. Overall it is a great day out for the family full of learning, shows and activities.
To the slops! Again I found a deal for this on Groupon and got another cheeky 15% off the discounted Groupon price I paid £24 for 3 people originally the price would have been £62.50 for 1 hour snow park pass with clothing hire. My partner and the boys did this and they had so much fun. We hired boots for £3 per person and you need gloves. It was -3 degrees but they had a bast sliding down the slopes and having a snow ball fight. Ahaziah said it was the best place ever and it was super cold. I would love to experience this with the boys so I will be back to somewhere similar.
Overall we all had a fantastic time. We also when to the Trafford centre which is massive!! The food court is amazing with plenty to choose from and the shops are endless. The city centre has so much to offer, cinema, bowling, golf, shops, many food places. We were sad to leave but will be returning very soon.
I hope you enjoyed this blog and I answered all your questions
Until the next adventure…..
