Winter city break Prague

As a surprise birthday treat for my partner I decided to book a quick city break. I was looking for an affordable winter destination with snow. I looked up things to do and I found a outdoor shooting range so I was sold with that.

I booked the flight and hotel with Travel Republic, the total for this was £243.76 for 2 nights. We stayed in Orea Pyramid Prague. The location was perfect, it was so easy to travel around using pubic transport. As it was my partners birthday I decided to get rose petals scattered on the bed along with a bottle of Prosecco this was an extra €30 which I paid on check out. The hotel itself was lovely. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel provides free breakfast and there is a massive selection, even a waffle maker, my boys would have loved it. The hotel also has spa facilities and offers massages at an extra cost as well as a 4D cinema.

We got around using tram, train and bus. We brought a Prague 3 day pass for 310 CZK each which works out to £10. We took a bus from the airport, changed to a tram which took us outside the hotel, total journey time was 40 minutes. Travelling around the city was so simple, thank God for Google maps!

The first night we went out to eat at Cloud 9 Sky bar and lounge at the Hilton. The atmosphere was lovely, good music, good food, strong cocktails.

Shooting In Prague

I had organised this experience before we arrived, I arranged with Jan via email and booked our slot. This was hands down one of the best thing I have ever done. I booked a private shooting session for me and my partner. There was snow on the ground, the sun was shining, the air was fresh and Jan was a great instructor. I felt very comfortable and safe and I was of course the best shooter!

There are different packages on the website to choose from, I went for package 5 Shooting in Prague  which included 3 guns. On the day 1 of the guns wasn’t available so we was able to choose any alternative, we decided on the sniper!

I have a phobia of things that pop but I am also an adrenaline junkie. My partner went first and the whole time he was shooting I was thinking to myself why on earth did I sign up for this. As soon as I got the AK- 47 in my hand I got confidence and I absolutely enjoyed the whole experience!

This experience including hotel pick up was 4780 CZK which is about £166

Free things to do in Prague

The next day we walked around Prague city. The city itself is quite small but it is picturesque. The first stop was Vltava Beach where there were a number of swans roaming around, they got really close. From here you can also see Charles Bridge.

Then we walked along Charles Bridge, the views are amazing and it is so relaxing to just stand and watch the boats go by.

We then walked unto The Black Tower to get paranormal views of the city. 99 steps up but it was definatly worth it.

After walking around the city, taking in the sites and soaking up the culture we headed back to the hotel then to the airport. I will never forget Prague for an unforgettable experience.

I hope you enjoyed this blog, let me know if you have been or if you plan to go.

  1. Aww…reading this and seeing your pictures brings back lots of memories! We went to Prague in December 2007! We went for the Christmas markets and I remember it being so beautiful and incredibly cold!
