Paint & Slurp

Paint & Slurp

Is a children’s version of ‘Paint and Sip” commonly known in the US. Paint and Slurp is a unique bonding experience between parent and child. We offered a maximum of 15 parents and their child a bonding session which involved parents painting a flower with their child. This event featured professional artist Chanelle Beaumont who provided guidance and support throughout the class. Together the parent and the child will decorate a canvas which will be a beautiful keepsake and memory for their moment together.

The ‘Slurp’ portion of the session included having freshly made healthy smoothies by Sareta from Kiki- Blah Blah. The smoothies were served as a reward for completing the activity together. This activity was aimed at children aged 6-10 as a guidance and trial to see how the children would cope with understanding instructions however parents which younger children showed interest.

Nahdz adventures

For those who are new to my blog my name is Nahdia and I am a mother of two boys. I began blogging about a year ago to encourage and inspire other parents. I have recently started a Sensory Sunday segment on my blog which encourages parents to do a activity weekly with their child using an prompt which I have provided. The idea is to get creative, have fun, share a special moment, share ideas and create a sensory community between us. Paint and Slurp is a brilliant opportunity for parents to bond with their child and the canvas will capture that moment for them. I am a strong believer of capturing moments and having a keepsake canvas is a great way to remember the moment you spent creating art. This new experience for you and your child is a great way to nurture parent child bonding.

Behind the scenes

Overall I am very pleased with the turn out of Paint and Slurp. The session was between one adult and one child which did make it a little unfair for parents with multiple children. However as a mother of two I think it is very important to bond with my children separately as well as together. My youngest son came to join me towards the end and he sat on my lap along with his brother, it was very uncomfortable and proved my point that it would not work for more than one child.

With that being said one of the attendees sent me a message saying (x) really enjoyed herself and it was great to have time doing something together without (y) demanding attention She then sent another message saying “yesterday inspired (x) we had to go out and buy art supplies, she said she wants to be an artist when she is older”. Both her and her brother decorated canvas the next day. It warms my heart to receive messages like this

Another parent sent me a message saying “(x)  and I really had a great time at Paint and Slurp….We got to bond whilst painting and drinking smoothies….His picture came out amazing so proud of him thank you @nahdz_adventures for hosting this event you did a great job!!! Also the paint artist that showed us what to do and the lady who made the smoothies was amazing too 😁😁…Pat on the back for all of you 😁😁”

Paint and Slurp was amazing, I look forward to planning the next one.
